Okay, most you already know that the Pharmacy Entrance Exam or the PCAT, tests you on your knowledge not only on the sciences but your ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and write. Most students will take the PCAT whenever and then will cry to their mother (or father) how poorly they did on the exam. Well, you deserved it if you just randomly picked a date from a hat or whenever you could take this important test. Choosing a test date requires careful planning. Those who fail to plan may not do well on the PCAT and this may hurt your chance of admissions to the pharmacy school of your dream.
The best time to prepare for the PCAT is RIGHT NOW! If you are just starting college, and your goal is to get into pharmacy school, you should start preparing now. You may ask: How can I study for the PCAT if I haven`t taken all of the required classes? Well, it is very simple. Do well in all of your classes. This advice is simple enough but most pre-pharmacy students will not follow it.
The PCAT are usually offered during the following months: June, August, October and January. Now the best time to take it is in January and June. Why?
You should consider taking the PCAT in January because assuming that you have taken all of the classes that will aid you in the PCAT, taking the January exam will give you at least 1 month or even more in studying time. Most colleges will have a semester and/or winter break beginning in late November or early December. This is a great time to study considering the fact that you have 1 full month of hardcore studying. Many of you may not want to study during this time because it is during the Christmas season and you want to do nothing and have fun. Well, the fact is, it won`t take too much time to study if you did well in your classes and study little by little every semester.
Now, you should consider taking the PCAT in June because this is around the same time that most colleges begin their summer break. This will give you ample time to take the test and receive the scores before you decide to apply to pharmacy school.
There you have it, the two best times to take the PCAT exam: January and June.
